Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers stated they were alerted by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important political figure stated the incident made him stunned and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
