I'll dominate 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be shown in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to promote the upcoming bout.

Former twice unified boxing king Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami arena on 19 December.

Fighter's Mentality

"I will injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I will seriously aim to injure him. That's my goal."

Respectful Interaction

In spite of those words, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather attacked ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, at the same time, criticized UK opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Jake Paul's History

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.

He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the novice is still one of boxing's largest money-making draws, regularly earning massive earnings.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and claimed he would derail the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters met for the customary stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it drove home just how surprising this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
